The Hindi film industry is in mourning as news breaks of the passing of Zarine Khan, mother of actors Zayed Khan and Sussanne Khan. According to media reports, she died due to cardiac arrest.
Zarine, who was also the wife of actor-director Sanjay Khan, leaves behind a legacy of a brief but memorable journey in Bollywood.
According to sources, Zarine Khan’s final rites will take place on Friday at 4 pm at the Juhu crematorium. A prayer meet will follow on Monday at the JW Marriott in Mumbai, where friends, family, and admirers will gather to pay their respects.
Zarine Khan, who began her life in the public eye as an actress, had a short yet significant career in Hindi cinema. She is popular for playing Jenny Fernandes, the secretary to legendary actor Dev Anand in the 1963 film ‘Tere Ghar Ke Saamne’. She also appeared in ‘Ek Phool Do Mali’ before she married Sanjay Khan in 1966.

Earlier this year, Zarine and Sanjay celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Daughter Farah Khan Ali penned an emotional note reflecting on the beautiful journey of her parents writing: “A marriage that lasted 59 years and still going strong. A story woven with love, laughter, tears, marriage, children, grandchildren, trials and triumphs, moments of both sorrow and joy. Life threw many things their way. But what remained unwavering was the bond. Their greatest achievement? Their four children and nine grandchildren each one blessed to have witnessed this love story unfold, to have been raised by two souls who defined what it means to be a family.”
Zarine Khan’s family includes her husband Sanjay Khan and their children: son Zayed Khan and daughters Sussanne Khan, Farah Khan Ali, and Simone Arora.
