Actor Yami Gautam, who will be next seen in the film Batti Gul Meter Chalu, is leaving no stone unturned to get into the skin of her character in the film.

The latest buzz from the Tinsel Town is that Yami will be attending court proceedings to prepare for her role in ‘Batti…’. The film, which also stars Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, will have Yami essaying the role of a lawyer for the first time in her career.

The upcoming film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame) and the story revovles around discrepancies of electric billing in small towns.

As this is an issue that plagues many people across the nation, numerous cases are brought to the court by unhappy consumers.

This is where Yami steps in as her role in the film is about helping people get justice.

When asked about her experience of essaying a lawyer on screen, Yami said, “I am planning to attend one of the court sessions for sure before starting Batti. As of now, since its summer holidays, my lawyer friend and team are figuring a vacation bench session that I can attend basis my schedule currently. I am looking forward to the real experience at a court.”

The social drama has continued its shooting after a brief halt in the shootings due to some production related difficulties and will release in early 2019.

Yami will be also be seen in Uri, a film based on the Uri attacks, alongside Vicky Kaushal.
