Veteran actor Vipin Sharma, best known for playing the strict father in ‘Taare Zameen Par’, is once again winning hearts, this time for an unexpected role in ‘Dhadak 2’.

In the newly released film, Sharma plays a cross-dressing father in a story that explores caste discrimination and social exclusion. His performance is being praised by both audiences and critics.

In a candid chat, Vipin Sharma shared that he feels surprised and grateful for the love he’s receiving. “The compliments I’m getting for ‘Dhadak 2’ have taken me by surprise!” he said. “This role felt very natural to me. I didn’t need to research. I’ve been lucky to work with filmmakers who bring unique and important stories to life.”

The role is a big shift from what audiences may expect from Sharma. It’s gentle, personal, and emotional. Even though his character doesn’t share much screen time with the son, played by Neelesh, the emotional connection between the two still comes through.

Speaking about that, Sharma said, “My character and Neelesh’s don’t share a lot of scenes together. The father is rarely at home. So the challenge was how to show a relationship that’s mostly unseen. I had to find ways to express it with subtle gestures and emotions.”

He also reflected on his career since ‘Taare Zameen Par’, saying that he’s always been trying to “redeem” himself after that film.

“Ever since ‘Taare Zameen Par’, I’ve wanted to show a different side of me, to bring more warmth and love into the roles I play. I always try to use my real feelings of respect and affection for my co-actors, and this time it really helped.”

One comment that touched him deeply was about how his character’s tenderness shows the bond between father and son. That, he said, meant a lot to him.
