Vicky Kaushal’s latest film URI, which narrates the story of the 2016 surgical strikes, seems unstoppable at the Box Office. Although the action drama had to compete with Anupam Kher starrer The Accidental Prime Minister, it is definitely getting its share of appreciation.

While Dr Manmohan Singh’s biopic is growing at a steady pace and has earned Rs 7.50 crore till now, as reported by Box Office India, Uri has managed to mint Rs 12.43 crore on the second day, making its total collection Rs. 20.63 crore.

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and shared the second-day collection of the film,”#UriTheSurgicalStrike witnesses remarkable growth on Day 2 [Sat]… Glowing word of mouth is converting into BO numbers… Growth on Day 2 [vis-à-vis Day 1]: 51.59%… Day 3 [today] should be bigger… Fri 8.20 cr, Sat 12.43 cr. Total: ₹ 20.63 cr. India biz.”

Earlier, praising the film, Adarsh wrote on Twitter,”#Uri is one film that *should* be watched… Absorbing screenplay, superbly executed combat scenes, efficient direction [Aditya Dhar]… #Uri is thrilling, gripping, instills patriotism, without getting jingoistic.”

The film, helmed by debutant director Aditya Dhar, is based on the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army after the terrorist attack at the Uri army camp in 2016.

Produced by RSVP movies, the film also stars Yami Gautam and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. URI released on January 11, 2019.
