Tamannaah Bhatia shines as Jayashree while Siddhant Chaturvedi becomes V Shantaram in biopic

Tamannaah Bhatia is all ready to step back in time as she takes on the role of actress Jayashree in the much-anticipated biopic of legendary filmmaker V Shantaram. The film stars Siddhant Chaturvedi as the visionary director himself.

On Tuesday, the makers released a striking poster showing Tamannaah in her character. Draped in a pink Nauvari saree, she embodies the elegance of Jayashree who was known for films like ‘Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani’, ‘Shakuntala’, ‘Chandra Rao More’, ‘Dahej’.

Beyond cinematic fame, Jayashree was also V Shantaram’s second wife.

The movie titled ‘V Shantaram’ is described as a historical biographical drama that celebrates the filmmaker’s extraordinary journey.

Tamannaah Bhatia expressed her excitement and responsibility in bringing Jayashree to life. “It’s a great responsibility to portray a character rooted in one of the most influential eras of our cinema,” she said. “I feel immensely honoured to bring Jayashree to life, as she was part of such legendary projects, and the grace she had was surreal. Siddhant Chaturvedi, who will portray V Shantaram, had his look unveiled earlier by the makers, giving fans their first glimpse of the actor as the iconic filmmaker.

Produced by Rahul Kiran Shantaram, Subhash Kale, and Sarita Ashwin Varde, and directed by Abhijeet Shirish Despande, ‘V Shantaram’ is presented by Rajkamal Entertainment, Camera Take Films, and Roaring Rivers Production.

V Shantaram, born Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre in 1901, was a true pioneer of Indian cinema. His career spanned nearly seven decades. He founded two major film studios: Prabhat Film Company in 1929 and Rajkamal Kalamandir in 1942. He also directed the first Marathi-language talkie ‘Ayodhyecha Raja’ in 1932.

His films including classics like ‘Duniya Na Mane’ (1937), ‘Do Aankhen Barah Haath’ (1957), ‘Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje’ (1955), ‘Navrang’ (1959) were celebrated for technical innovation, stunning visuals and progressive social themes.
