Sunita Ahuja has a simple reason for not dwelling on her husband Govinda’s alleged extra-marital affairs. She says it will only make her diabetes worse.
The wife of Bollywood veteran Govinda made this admission on the reality show Lock Up Season 2. She was speaking with fellow contestant Shreya Kalra during what turned into a candid and emotional exchange on the show.
Shreya brought up a past interview in which Sunita had spoken about feeling cheated in her marriage. Sunita did not deny what was said. She acknowledged that the alleged infidelity has been part of her life for a long time.
“Hua toh abhi kya kar sakte hain… shuru se hi hua hain na lekin?” she said. Translated, she was asking what she could possibly do about something that has been happening since the very beginning of her marriage.
She also pointed to Govinda’s stardom as something that left her with little say. “Hero hain toh you can’t say anything,” she added.
But her most striking statement was about her own health. “Iss umar mein abhi sochunga toh diabetes aur badhega,” she said. At this stage in life, she explained, stressing over these things would only push her blood sugar higher. So she has chosen not to think about it at all.

When Shreya asked whether the pain still lingers, Sunita kept her answer short. “It is fine, I live for my kids,” she said.
She was also asked directly whether she believes Govinda is still being unfaithful today. Her response was blunt and without bitterness. “Tum rok sakte ho kisi ko?” she said. Can you stop anyone? She made clear she has no intention of watching over him round the clock. “Main sochti hi nahi hoon,” she added. She simply does not think about it anymore.
Sunita also revealed that the two now live in separate houses. Many people come to visit Govinda at his home, she explained. At her own place, she wants privacy. The arrangement appears to have been going on quietly, away from public attention.
This is not the first time Sunita has addressed the alleged affairs publicly. She has spoken about the topic in earlier interviews as well. Each time, her position has remained the same. She says she has made peace with the situation and is focused on her children and her own wellbeing.
Govinda and Sunita got married in 1987. They have been together for close to four decades. The couple have two children. Their daughter Tina Ahuja is an actress. Their son Yashvardhan Ahuja is reportedly preparing for his Bollywood debut.
Govinda had an extraordinary run through the 1990s. He was among the biggest stars in Bollywood during that decade. Films like Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Raja Babu, Saajan Chale Sasural, Dulhe Raja, and Haseena Maan Jaayegi were massive commercial hits. He built his stardom through consistent box office successes over several years.
Sunita herself did not appear to be seeking sympathy. She was composed and direct throughout the conversation on the show. She has made her choice. Peace over conflict. Health over heartbreak. Her children over everything else.
“Jaise chal raha hain chalne do,” she said. Let things continue the way they are.
