On what would have been 62nd birthday of Sridevi, her husband and filmmaker Boney Kapoor opened up about a lighthearted moment from their life together, one that still makes him smile decades later.
Boney took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a vintage photograph from the actress’s 27th birthday celebration in Chennai in 1990. In the picture, Sridevi is giving him a playful, mock-warning look.
The story behind the photo is even more charming. Boney wrote that, during the party, he had wished her a “Happy 26th Birthday” instead of 27. His intention, he explained, was to flatter her, suggesting that she looked even younger than her real age. But Sridevi, known for her wit and expressive nature, thought he was making fun of her instead.
“In 1990, her birthday party in Chennai, I wished her happy 26th birthday while it was her 27th birthday to make her feel younger. But she thought I was teasing her,” Boney wrote in his caption.

Over the years, Boney has often used social media to share personal memories and unseen pictures of the late superstar. Just last month, he posted another throwback, this time of Sridevi before they were married, with the caption: “Watching meeeee and smiling, this was before we got married.”
Sridevi and Boney’s love story began on the sets of the 1987 cult classic ‘Mr. India’. The two tied the knot in 1996 and went on to have two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. Their marriage was often in the public eye.
Sridevi’s life cut short in February 2018, when she passed away at the age of 54 in Dubai due to accidental drowning.
