Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited comedy sequel ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ won’t hit theatres on July 25 as originally planned. The makers have now shifted the film’s release date to August 1, 2025.

The news came through a fresh poster shared online that reads, “The laughter riot just got a new date. Son of Sardaar 2 will now release in cinemas worldwide on August 1, 2025.”

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also confirmed the update through his social media post, calling it a “wise decision” by the team. He tagged Devgn and Jio Studios in his announcement, suggesting the move was a strategic one.

However, the announcement left fans with a big question: Why the delay?

Many flooded the comments section with queries like “Why delay?” and “What happened?” But so far, the makers haven’t provided a specific reason. Speculations are rife, from avoiding clashes with other films to getting more breathing room for promotions.

The recently released trailer has given fans a sneak peek into the film’s chaotic, comedy-filled plot.

The movie kicks off by revisiting scenes from the first part, where Ajay Devgn’s character Jassi got caught up in a village feud in Punjab. But this time, the setting moves to Scotland, and the stakes are just as hilarious.

Jassi, played by Devgn, along with his love interest played by Mrunal Thakur, finds himself helping Roshni Walia’s character marry the love of her life. The twist? To help the couple marry, Ajay and Mrunal pretend to be her Sikh parents.

But things quickly spiral into madness when they meet the groom’s father, played by Ravi Kishan, a larger-than-life Sardaar who owns a private army of bodyguards and an endless supply of guns.

The trailer is full of comic exchanges between Devgn and Kishan, promising the same over-the-top humour that fans loved in the first film.

Mrunal Thakur’s Punjabi accent in the film has also caught attention, as she convincingly plays a desi Indian girl navigating life in Scotland.
