Who are these women?
For those unfamiliar with the family history, a little context helps.
Sharmila Tagore is one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated actresses. She made her debut in 1959 and went on to work in landmark films across Hindi and Bengali cinema. Then she later married cricket legend Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and stepped back from acting. She is widely respected both for her film career and her public presence over the decades.
Amrita Singh is also a well-known Bollywood actress. At the time of their marriage, Amrita was one of the leading names in the industry while Saif was still finding his footing. Amrita is approximately 12 years older than Saif.
The marriage lasted over a decade. The couple separated in 2004. Together, they are parents to Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
Family that has moved forward
After the divorce, Saif Ali Khan moved on and married actress Kareena Kapoor Khan in 2012. The two have two sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jahangir Ali Khan, also known as Jeh.
Despite the divorce, the extended family has maintained a cordial dynamic over the years. Sara and Ibrahim are regularly seen with Saif, Kareena, and their half-brothers during vacations, festivals, family celebrations.
In past interviews, Sharmila Tagore has openly credited Amrita Singh for the way she raised Sara and Ibrahim. She has spoken positively about Amrita’s role as a mother and the values she instilled in the two children.
