For a few hours on social media, confusion spread quickly after several posts falsely claimed that veteran Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor had passed away. The rumours moved fast across different platforms, leaving many fans shocked and worried.
As messages and reposts continued to grow online, many users began searching for confirmation. Some fans even started posting emotional reactions before any official statement had been released. The fake news created panic among followers of the actor, who has spent decades in the Hindi film industry playing comic, villainous, and supporting roles.

Actor shares video to dismiss rumours
On Thursday, Shakti Kapoor uploaded a video on Instagram to stop the misinformation from spreading further. In the clip, the 73-year-old actor appeared calm while speaking directly to fans. Wearing a purple vest, he assured everyone that he was safe and doing well.
In the video, he said, “Hello everyone. My death news is all fake. I am healthy and happy. Please ignore it.”
Many users criticised the people responsible for spreading the false reports.
Cyber complaint planned against rumour spreaders
While speaking in the video, Shakti Kapoor also revealed that he does not plan to ignore the matter quietly. The actor said he intends to take legal action against those involved in spreading the fake death rumours online.
“I am going to do a cyber complaint about it because this is not good,” he said.
