After the Success of Rajkumar Hirani’s previous films (PK, 3 Idiots, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Munna Bhai MBBSSanju broke numerous records at the box office by emerging as the second biggest film of 2018.

The director who has been on a golden run was spot on even when it came to the film’s casting.

Hirani’s vision to cast Ranbir Kapoor as Sanju was applauded by all as Ranbir Kapoor went under the skin of Sanjay Dutt to get his role on screen. Even the character of Sanjay Dutt’s friend Kamli, played by Vicky Kaushal was highly appreciated by the audience.

The director had revealed in an interview about the struggles he had to go through while casting for the senior Dutt’s character. Then finally he decided to zero down on Paresh Rawal to play Sunil Dutt.

Even in Sanju, Ranbir and Paresh Rawal’s performances were hailed by the audiences as Rajkumar Hirani showed the Father-son bond in such a way that it struck a chord with the audience.

Apart from the fact that the actor has always admired the senior Dutt, he had reminisced about a letter that Dutt Sahib had sent him before hours of his death.

The letter was on Sunil Dutt’s letterhead with the signature of Sunil Dutt. Paresh Rawal was so excited to see the letter and also shocked that Sunil Dutt sent him a letter.

Rawal received the letter from the late legendary actor on the occasion of his birthday back in 2005 on May 25, the same date on which the veteran actor took his last breath.

During those years Paresh Rawal saved that letter but forgot about the incident but January 3, 2017 Rawal was going to meet Hirani then the actor’s wife Swaroop Sampat asked Rawal to give some documents to Hirani.

Interestingly, Rawal also told that how he got that letter from and maybe it was destiny that made him meet that old letter on the same day when he was supposed to hear the narration of Sunil Dutt’s role from Hirani.

In an interview earlier, Rawal revealed how it was ‘divine intervention’, that seemed like a sign for him to take on the role of Dutt Sahib in Sanju.

Presented by the iconic duo of Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju has grossed Rs 265 crore at the box office in India and was released worldwide on June 29.
