Actress Saiyami Kher is all ready to make her mark in filmmaker Priyadarshan’s upcoming action thriller ‘Haiwaan’, sharing the screen with Bollywood heavyweights Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan.
The shoot for the film has already kicked off in Kochi, and Saiyami says she feels both excited and grateful to be part of a project that “already feels so special.”
For Saiyami Kher, stepping onto the ‘Haiwaan’ set was an emotional experience. “Walking onto the set of ‘Haiwaan’ was overwhelming in the most beautiful way,” she said. “I still remember being that little girl in a theatre, wide-eyed, watching Akshay sir redefine action and laughing at Saif sir’s effortless comic timing. Their films were part of my childhood and shaped my love for cinema.”
It was hard for her to believe that those childhood heroes were now her co-stars. “Sometimes I have to pinch myself and remind myself that this is real,” she shared. “These are the same faces I once watched from the audience, and today, I’m sharing the frame with them.”
Saiyami also spoke warmly about working with Priyadarshan, calling him more than just a director. “Priyan sir is a storyteller who has given us some of the most iconic films in Indian cinema. To be guided by his vision is an experience I’ll cherish forever. His films were a big part of why I fell in love with movies, and now, being on his set feels like life coming full circle.”

Though the shoot has just begun, Saiyami says she is soaking in every moment with excitement, nerves, and gratitude all rolled into one.
“My heart is full, and I feel incredibly blessed to be a small part of a film that already feels so special,” she added.
‘Haiwaan’ also marks the much-awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after 17 years. The pair last shared the screen in the 2003 film Tashan.
The film draws inspiration from Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam hit ‘Oppam’, an action thriller starring Mohanlal and Samuthirakani. ‘Oppam’ tells the story of a retired judge struggling to protect his daughter from a convict he had imprisoned. When the judge is murdered, a loyal man with visual impairment steps in to defend her. While ‘Haiwaan’ adapts this storyline for a Bollywood audience, details about the plot are still under wraps.
