Richa Chadha on Radhika Yadav murder: In an incident that has left many across the country stunned, 25-year-old former junior tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her own father in Gurugram on July 10.
The case has sparked outrage, grief, and an urgent conversation about deep-rooted patriarchy and misplaced ideas of “honour.”
On July 13, actor Richa Chadha took to social media to voice her anger and sorrow over the tragedy of Radhika Yadav.
Responding to a video shared by Radhika’s friend Himanshikha Singh Rajput, Richa condemned not just the crime itself, but also the mindset that attempts to justify such acts.

In her post on X (formerly Twitter), Richa called out the hypocrisy of a society that shames women for being independent, saying, “There is no honour in killing your own child. If a few wagging tongues said stuff to him earlier, now the whole world will remember Deepak Yadav as a loser, forever.”

Her message didn’t hold back. She directly addressed the accused, Deepak Yadav, labeling him a “LOSER and a COWARD”.
The murder itself has shaken the public consciousness. According to the police, Deepak Yadav confessed to killing his daughter. It was reportedly because of “frustration” over his financial dependence on her and societal gossip about her lifestyle.
Friends of Radhika have shared that she often faced criticism for simple things. Those were wearing shorts, speaking freely with male friends, and choosing to live life on her own terms.
Despite this, she remained focused on her career, running a tennis academy and supporting her family financially.
The details of the crime are chilling. Radhika was shot four times, three bullets struck her in the back, and one hit her in the shoulder. The police have arrested her father and he remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
