More than a decade has passed since ‘Ram Chahe Leela’ from ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’ hit the screens, but electrifying dance by Priyanka Chopra is still fresh in fans’ minds.
The powerful number, full of intensity and grace, was a standout moment, and it turns out, the decision to do it wasn’t easy for Priyanka either.
Taking to Instagram this Thursday, the ‘Barfi’ star shared a heartfelt post, looking back on the experience with a sense of nostalgia. She uploaded a short clip from the song, opening up about how the offer came to her and what went into making the moment unforgettable.
“When Sanjay Sir came to me with this song, it was a complicated decision,” she wrote. “But he, as a filmmaker, has always inspired me. His creative mind, his nostalgic stories over delicious food, our talks about art, music, and the beauty of the past… and then, he played the song. I knew I was her.”
Priyanka, who made a lasting impression in the song with her fiery expressions and sharp moves, admitted that it wasn’t just a quick yes. It took serious thought.
But director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s passion and vision pushed her to take the plunge.

She also gave a big shout-out to the team that helped bring the performance to life. She praised Ravi Varman’s stunning cinematography and Vishnu Deva’s brilliant choreography.
“He and I would rehearse during lunch breaks every day,” she recalled. “We worked hard to perfect every move. It brings back such great memories.”
The track, sung by Bhoomi Trivedi and written by the duo Siddharth-Garima, became a chartbuster soon after its release in 2013. Fans and critics alike loved the song, not just for the music but also for Priyanka’s strong presence.
‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’, directed by Bhansali, also had another big moment. It was the first time Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone appeared together on screen.
In her post, Priyanka tagged it as a #ThrowbackThursday.
On the career front, Priyanka isn’t slowing down. She was recently seen in ‘Heads of State’, a high-octane action film with Idris Elba and John Cena, currently streaming on Prime Video. In the film, she plays Noel Bisset, a skilled MI6 agent caught up in a global mission.
Next up, she’s set to star in ‘The Bluff’, where she’ll transform into a 19th-century Caribbean pirate. Fans can also look forward to the second season of ‘Citadel’, the spy thriller series that has built a strong global following.
