And wow, the mood is all over the place. Some viewers are cheering, some are yawning, and some are flat-out angry. If gossip had a soundtrack today, it would be loud, confused, and a little dramatic.

Social media wakes up to a divided film

Within hours of release, timelines were flooded with strong opinions. One user bluntly called the film “CRAP” and rated it 2/5, saying they felt sad for Shahid Kapoor, who they felt gave a solid performance but picked the wrong script again.

But not everyone was that harsh. Another viewer called it “good but not great,” saying the love story between Shahid and Triptii Dimri feels forced, yet the violence and music are impressive. In short: entertaining, but not unforgettable.

Director debate: Is Vishal Bhardwaj playing it too loud?

Much of the chatter is focused on the director. Some fans feel Bhardwaj has gone “too massy” this time with excessive violence dominating the film. One user even complained that the violence felt like a caricature and asked, “What was it even about?” That’s a brutal question for any filmmaker.


Another review said the film starts strong with a promising first half, but the second half collapses under weak writing and a messy screenplay. The complaint is clear: great setup, disappointing payoff.

Performances shine… but unevenly

Even the harshest critics seem to agree on one thing. Shahid Kapoor delivers. Many viewers praised his intense screen presence and emotional depth especially in first half. Some even said he “wins your heart” despite the film’s flaws.

Supporting cast reactions are mixed but interesting. Nana Patekar is called decent and dependable. Vikrant Massey and Tamannaah Bhatia are described as okay but not game-changing. Meanwhile, Farida Jalal surprisingly stands out for many viewers.

On the flip side, some users feel Avinash Tiwary was underused and deserved a stronger role.

Too much violence, too little emotion?

One repeated complaint is about forced brutality. Several viewers said the action sequences are impactful but feel unnecessary at times. Loud background music and predictable storytelling also got called out. The emotional moments, while present, reportedly work only occasionally.

This has led to the most common verdict online: “Underwhelming.”
