Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding has been the talk of the town ever since the news got out. Their spectacular wedding pictures are now the current obsession of people on social media. The celebrity couple tied the knot at Umaid Bhawan in Jodhpur.
As Priyanka and Nick shared glimpses of their pre-wedding ceremonies on Instagram, fans had a special question for Priyanka’s cousin and actress Parineeti Chopra: How much money did she get as joota chhupai gift?
There is a fun ritual at some weddings in India that involves hiding the groom’s shoes. It’s done by the bride’s sisters, cousins and friends, and they return the shoes to their new brother-in-law only in return of some token gift, mostly money.

Addressing the people who were speculating about it, the Ishqzaade actress took to Twitter and posted: “To all those speculating the joota hiding money – you know nothing!! All I can say is – you’re wrong!!!!! Haha. Nick was MORE THAN CRAZY HUGELY MADLY GENEROUS! No words. Still reeling. Phew. He shocked us. Whatta playa!!! @nickjonas.”

Earlier, the American singer left a comment on one of Priyanka’s bachelorette party pictures, shared by Parineeti. “Wow she’s so beautiful. Any chance you could introduce me?”

“Nick Jonas, she is very hard to get! But I can try for you, if you agree to pay the 5 million dollar shoe-hiding fee!” Parineeti replied referring to the Indian tradition in which the bride’s side quietly hides the groom’s shoes.
On December 1 and 2, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas got hitched as per Christian and Hindu wedding rituals at Umaid Bhawan, Jodhpur. After their wedding reception that took place in Delhi on December 4, the newlyweds will be hosting another one for their entertainment industry friends as well.
