In the world of Bollywood, celebrity weddings are always a big talking point. But for actress Neha Dhupia, the chatter wasn’t about her outfit, the guests, or the glamour, it was about the timing of her pregnancy.

During a recent conversation with Midday India, Neha looked back at the days when she and actor Angad Bedi tied the knot in May 2018. Six months later, they welcomed their daughter Mehr. While the couple was thrilled, the public was more curious about the math.

“The biggest conversation around our wedding was, ‘How did the baby come in six months? Ye ho kaise gaya?’” Neha recalled. She admitted that the endless questioning was tough, but she never let it break her.

Neha Dhupia, now a mother of two, said she often notices how female actors continue to face harsh comments when they become pregnant before marriage.

“Even now, I see stories and tags on actresses. I feel, at least, I’m in the same list as Neena Gupta and Alia Bhatt. But honestly, this is ridiculous. Pregnancy is beautiful, and that’s it!” she firmly stated.

Instead of hiding or shying away from the criticism, Neha decided to use her own experience as a platform for change. That’s how ‘Freedom to Feed’ was born, an initiative she started to create open conversations around motherhood.

Neha has always been outspoken about her journey as a mother and how society reacted to her choices. In an earlier interview with ‘Times Now’, she revealed the moment she told her family about being pregnant before marriage. She said, “We had a nonlinear wedding. We were pregnant before we got married. When we told my parents, they said, ‘Okay, this is great. But you have 72 hours before we turn this around. Let’s get married.’ I was given two and a half days to go back to Bombay and tie the knot.”

What followed was a quick and intimate wedding with Angad Bedi. Soon after, the couple welcomed their baby girl, Mehr, and later became parents again to their son, Guriq.
