It’s been eight years since ‘Mubarakan’ hit the big screens, and actor Arjun Kapoor took a moment to look back at the film with fondness.

On social media, he shared the poster of the movie with a simple caption: “8 Years!!!”

Released on 28 July 2017, ‘Mubarakan’ was a Hindi-language romantic comedy directed by Anees Bazmee, who is known for making light-hearted family entertainers.

The film featured a star-studded cast including Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz, Athiya Shetty, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Karan Kundrra, with a special appearance by Sanjay Kapoor.

What made ‘Mubarakan’ unique was Arjun Kapoor playing a double role; as twin brothers with completely different personalities. One was fun-loving and full of energy, while the other was calm and shy.

The story focused on love, family expectations, and mistaken identities, all wrapped up in colourful celebrations, wedding plans, and lots of chaos. At the heart of it all was Anil Kapoor, playing the loud and lovable uncle who tries to fix everything, often creating more confusion in the process.

The film was also popular for its music. The title track ‘Mubarakan’ and the hit number ‘Hawa Hawa’, a recreated version of a song originally sung by Pakistani singer Hasan Jahangir, quickly became party anthems.

T-Series launched the soundtrack, and it included six songs, with lyrics by Kumaar and music composed by Amaal Mallik, Gourov Roshin, and Rishi Rich.

‘Mubarakan’ released in 2,350 screens across India and 475 screens overseas, making it a big release at the time. Made on a budget of around ₹65 crore, the film went on to collect over ₹93 crore at the global box office.
