The journey to stardom in Bollywood is not an easy road, and Kriti Sanon knows this better than many. At a recent News18 event, the actor spoke openly about the struggles of outsiders in the industry and shared advice for those who dream of making it big on the silver screen.
Kriti, who herself entered films without any family background in cinema, said passion and patience are the two biggest weapons for anyone who wishes to survive in Bollywood.
She admitted that the path is tough, especially for newcomers who don’t have connections or godfathers. But, according to her, hard work can make the impossible possible.
“You need to be really passionate about it, because there are no shortcuts,” Kriti said. “Nothing in this industry comes easy. You have to work hard and, most importantly, you cannot give up.”
The actor explained that when someone doesn’t belong to a film family, it’s natural to face rejection. Offers don’t land on a platter, and people often discourage dreamers by saying the goal is too big.
“They will tell you why you cannot do it, maybe you’re too short, too tall, too thin, or not the right shape,” she noted. “People will point out what’s wrong with you. But no one will tell you that you ‘can’ do it, except you.”

Kriti Sanon believes that this inner belief is the key to surviving in the industry. She added that the years of waiting before getting a breakthrough should not feel wasted. Instead, that time should be seen as an opportunity to improve one’s craft and grow as an artist.
“Sometimes, it feels like it’s taking too long. But maybe that time is needed for you to work on yourself,” she explained. “When the moment is right, it will happen. You just need to keep going and be prepared.”
Kriti’s own career is proof of her words. Starting with ‘Heropanti’ in 2014, she slowly built her way into the industry. Today, she is among the most successful actors of her generation, with a National Award to her name and a wide range of films in her kitty.
