In Bollywood, famous surnames carry weight. But sometimes, they also need protection. The Kapoor family has quietly taken a legal step to make sure the name of late actor Rishi Kapoor is not used without permission.

The move is not about nostalgia alone. It is about control, respect, and protecting the memory of one of Hindi cinema’s most loved stars.

Legal shield around a legendary name

According to a report by India Today, the Kapoor family has secured rights over the use of the name “Rishi Kapoor.” This means anyone who wants to use the actor’s name for professional, commercial, or public purposes will now need the family’s approval.

A source familiar with the matter explained to the portal that the copyright ensures no one can casually use the name in projects, branding, or public activities without permission.
