Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has drawn a comparison between the criticism currently directed at Ranveer Singh and the professional battles she fought earlier in her career. Speaking in an interview with Fever FM, Kangana claimed she endured harsher treatment long before the current discourse around Ranveer began.

“I was the first one to be banned”

When asked whether she had faced something similar to what Ranveer is going through, Kangana did not hold back. She said she was among the first in Bollywood to face such targeted opposition, including legal attempts to have her arrested.

“They put cases on me. They tried to frame me legally. Also, they tried to put me in jail,” she said.

She recalled a period when legal hearings consumed her days. Her lawyer was constantly occupied with court appearances, and court dates piled up without end. The Hindi phrase she used, “peshiyan hi peshiyan,” summed up the relentlessness of that stretch.

Media blackout and industry pressure

Beyond the legal troubles, Kangana claimed she was also shut out by the media. She described it as a coordinated effort, not isolated criticism.

“I was banned by the media. It was a big ban by the media,” she said.

She did not name specific individuals or outlets but framed the experience as part of a broader pattern in which the film industry and press worked in tandem against those who did not conform.

“Main toh guru hoon”

Despite the weight of those claims, Kangana spoke with a certain lightness. She referred to herself as a veteran of such experiences, saying “Main toh guru hoon” and laughing as she said it.

The remark was not dismissive of what she went through. Rather, it pointed to the thick skin she says those years forced her to develop. She suggested that what others might find overwhelming now feels routine to her.

Comparing stature to opposition

The conversation originated from a remark Kangana had previously made about public figures: that as a person’s standing grows, so does the hostility around them. She applied this idea to Ranveer Singh’s current situation, suggesting the backlash he faces is a function of his success.

Referring to the current wave of public criticism around celebrities, she said it all felt like child’s play to her at this point, using the phrase “bachchon ka khel.”
