Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, along with director Subhash Kapoor, have been asked to appear in a Pune civil court in connection with their upcoming film ‘Jolly LLB 3’. The summons came after a lawyer, Wajed Rahim Khan, filed a petition claiming the film disrespects the judiciary.
The court has directed the actors and the director to be present in person on October 28 at 11 am. According to Khan, the film portrays lawyers and judges in a negative and mocking light, which he says undermines the respect for the legal profession.
One particular scene drew his objection because judges are referred to as “mama,” a slang term, which he felt was inappropriate.

Khan said to ANI, “There should be respect for the lawyers. That is why I filed a petition in the court, that whatever they have shown about the advocates and the judges is wrong… I filed a petition in the Pune court. And the court has asked Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi and the director to be present.”
The controversy dates back to 2024, after the release of the film’s first teaser. It apparently sparked concerns about the way the legal system was being depicted.
Last week, the full teaser of ‘Jolly LLB 3’ released. It offered fans a first look at the clash between the two lead characters. Both are Jolly, played by Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi.
‘Jolly LLB 3’ is the third film in the popular legal comedy series, following ‘Jolly LLB’ and ‘Jolly LLB 2’. Like its predecessors, the upcoming movie blends courtroom drama with comedy, highlighting quirky characters and unusual legal battles.
The film is directed and written by Subhash Kapoor and stars Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and Saurabh Shukla. Other actors returning from previous films include Amrita Rao, Huma Qureshi, and Annu Kapoor.
