The Tinsel Town always has films lined up for release on key dates such as Diwali, Eid, Republic Day and Independence Day, leading to clash of dates. The biggest clash lined up in 2018 as of now is between Akshay Kumar’s Gold and John Abhraham-starrer Satyamev Jayate, which are scheduled for release on August 15.

The makers of Gold had announced the release date of the biopic in the month of February and were the first to book the Independence Day slot. But, now it seems that Gold is set to face a tough competition at the box office as John’s upcoming film, which also features Manoj Bajpayee, has announced to release the film on Independence Day 2018.

Earlier, there was a clash of dates between Padmaavat and Pad Man; Pad Man and Aiyaary; Pari and Parmanu, which the makers avoided through rescheduling the releases. Also, Mukkabaaz, 1921 and Kaalakaandi hit the screens at the same time.

Interestingly, John and Akshay have worked together in films like Garam Masala, Desi Boyz and Housefull 2, and that’s what makes this clash even more interesting to watch.

Excel Entertainment’s Gold will also mark the debut of MounI Roy and will be directed by Reema Kagti.

Satyamev Jayate will be directed by Milap Zaveri and will be backed by T-Series and Nikhil Advani.
