Bollywood stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor recently shared their thoughts on a topic that has been creating headlines across industries: artificial intelligence.
The two actors were present at the launch of the trailer for their upcoming film ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ on Monday when the conversation turned serious.
Both actors agreed that while AI has its benefits, it also carries risks that could directly impact creative professionals in the film industry.
Varun pointed out that technology should not replace human talent. “If we don’t set boundaries today, we could reach a time when there will be no need for actors at all. Characters might just be created using AI. That’s why rules and laws are very important,” he said, stressing that responsibility lies in how technology is used.

Janhvi added her own perspective, saying AI has been growing faster than many people imagined. “I’ve noticed how quickly things have changed in the last few months. Earlier, it took days to discuss looks or story ideas. Now with AI, teams can instantly create images or concepts. It definitely cuts costs and saves time. But I feel we must protect what only a human mind and heart can bring to art,” she said.
She also touched upon the sensitive issue of misuse of celebrity images online. Referring to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s recent case, where the actor moved the Delhi High Court against unauthorized use of her name and photos, Janhvi shared that she too has seen fake images of herself circulating on the internet.
“This is where things get worrying. It’s not just about cost-cutting or creativity, it’s also about protecting our identity,” she explained.
The concern comes at a time when more actors are speaking about “personality rights”. It is a legal term that covers control over one’s own name, image, and likeness.
