Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor recently attended a Dahi Handi celebration in Mumbai, where a video of her chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” while breaking the Handi went viral. But what should have been a festive moment quickly turned into online trolling.
In the clip that spread like wildfire, Janhvi is holding the mic and shouting the slogan with full enthusiasm. Soon after, several social media users began mocking her. Some even accused her of trying too hard to grab attention during the festival. The trolling grew so loud that Janhvi herself had to step in and share her side of the story.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Janhvi posted the full video from the event. In the longer version, it is clear that BJP MLA Ram Kadam first raised the slogan, and Janhvi only repeated after him.
Sharing the clip, she wrote with a hint of sarcasm, “Just for context full video lol. Unke bolne ke baad nahi bolti toh problem, aur bolo toh bhi video ko kaat ke meme material.”

She also added, “Waise sirf Janmashtami ke din nahi, roz bolungi Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
This isn’t the first time Janhvi has faced online criticism, but the way she handled it shows her growing confidence in addressing controversies.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Janhvi is all ready to charm audiences with her new film Param Sundari, releasing on 29 August 2025. Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, the movie is a romantic comedy pairing Janhvi with Sidharth Malhotra.
The story brings together two very different characters, Sundari from Kerala (played by Janhvi) and Param from Delhi (played by Sidharth).
Originally planned for a July release, the film pushed to August, and fans are eagerly counting down the days.
