Watch: Imtiaz Ali’s daughter Ida Ali shares fairytale Norway proposal, engaged to Krish Agrawal

Ida Ali, daughter of filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, is engaged. She announced it the way most people her age do now — through a string of social media posts, all shot against the mountains of Norway, and honestly, the setting alone would’ve made this news.

Her boyfriend of a long time, Krish Agrawal, popped the question somewhere in the middle of those mountains, and Ida posted a video of her reaction — visibly emotional — before turning the camera to show off her ring and then to Krish himself. The caption was simple, almost like a diary entry: “01/07/26 11pm Ytresand” — just the date, time, and place, nothing more needed.

The proposal itself

In a follow-up post, Ida shared more photos from the moment — Krish down on one knee, the actual ask, and then her saying yes. Smiles, hugs, that whole scene playing out against Norway’s landscape in the background. It’s the kind of proposal that looks staged for a movie, except it wasn’t.

Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for the comments section to fill up.

The industry showed up to congratulate them

Khushi Kapoor dropped a quick “So Cuteee” in the comments. Vedang Raina and Sharvari — who are currently starring in Imtiaz Ali’s new film ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ — also sent their congratulations. Orry was there too, along with Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap, actor Alizeh Agnihotri, and actress Ahsaas Channa. Basically, a good chunk of Ida’s circle in the industry showed up to celebrate with her.

She’s built her own space in filmmaking

Being Imtiaz Ali’s daughter comes with obvious attention, but Ida’s been working quietly on her own projects for a while now — she’s directed ‘Maya’, ‘Lift’, and ‘Thai Massage’. Unlike a lot of star kids, she hasn’t really leaned into the spotlight; she’s just been doing the work.

Meanwhile, her father’s new film is having a moment too

While all this engagement news is unfolding, Imtiaz Ali is having a good run professionally as well. His latest film, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, has been getting a strong response from audiences since it hit theatres — and from people within the industry too.

It’s a period drama with Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina, produced by Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment, and Window Seat Films, with Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar producing.

The story is set around Partition — Naseeruddin Shah plays a 95-year-old man, Ishar Singh Grewal, who has a stroke while trying to travel to Sargodha, which is now in Pakistan. As old memories start resurfacing, his grandson Nirvair (played by Diljit Dosanjh) flies back from England to piece together secrets the family had buried for decades. That search — what actually happened to Ishar before Partition — is really what drives the film.
