BJP MP and veteran actor Hema Malini has responded to the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests in the national capital, urging the organisers to resolve concerns through discussions instead of demonstrations. Speaking to reporters, she said protests would not solve the issue and appealed to those leading the movement not to mislead students.
According to Hema Malini, any concern related to education should be addressed through proper dialogue. She said the central government has consistently worked for the welfare of students and the country’s education system.
‘Protests will not solve the problem’
While speaking to the media, Hema Malini said that if there is a problem, it should be discussed in the right manner. She stated that holding protests in this way would not produce any meaningful outcome.
She also praised the Narendra Modi-led government, saying it has always supported young people and introduced several initiatives for education. According to her, constructive conversations are more effective than demonstrations when dealing with important public issues.
Appeals to protest organisers over student participation
Hema Malini also questioned the purpose of the ongoing agitation. She said the present protests do not serve any useful purpose and insisted that differences should be settled through talks.
And, she further urged the organisers to clearly explain the issues to students instead of creating confusion. She said students should not be misled and should instead be encouraged to focus on positive and meaningful activities. Also, she added that involving students responsibly in discussions is important whenever education-related concerns are raised.
Protest movement gained momentum after Sonam Wangchuk’s removal
The protests gathered fresh momentum after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was removed from the protest site at Jantar Mantar by Delhi Police during the early hours of July 18. Wangchuk had completed 21 days of an indefinite hunger strike before authorities shifted him to a hospital.
Delhi Police said the decision was taken because his health had deteriorated. Officials also cited medical advice and compliance with a Delhi High Court order while transferring him for treatment.
Hunger strike linked to exam irregularity demands
Sonam Wangchuk has been observing an indefinite hunger strike demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The issue gained nationwide attention after controversy surrounding the NEET examination where allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities triggered widespread concern among students and parents.
