Actor Gauahar Khan has never shied away from sharing her truth, but this time, she’s gone a step further, speaking openly about a deeply personal chapter of her life: the miscarriage she faced during her first pregnancy.
In a chat on Debina Bonnerjee’s podcast, Gauahar revealed the emotional weight she carried after losing her first child, a moment that left lasting scars.
Gauahar, now expecting her second child with husband Zaid Darbar, recalled how the journey to motherhood hasn’t been as smooth as many assume.
After tying the knot at 36, she and Zaid decided they wanted to start a family soon. But when the couple faced the unexpected heartbreak of a miscarriage, Gauahar Khan had to deal with grief and confusion.
“At that point, you just assume things will go fine,” she said, her voice heavy with emotion. “Nobody expected me to lose my child. It was extremely difficult.”
It took her more than a year to process the loss and find some peace.
The actress gave birth to her son Zehaan at 39, but with the clock ticking, she knew that if she wanted to have a second child, it had to be sooner rather than later. “It was now or never,” Gauahar said.

What makes Gauahar’s story even more intense is the fact that she didn’t slow down for a second during her pregnancies, not even after the miscarriage. In fact, she continued shooting demanding action scenes while carrying her babies.
She filmed for ‘Shiksha Mandal’ during her first pregnancy, performing physically challenging stunts and even horse riding.
A month later, she suffered the miscarriage.
Yet, despite the emotional blow, Gauahar didn’t step away from the cameras. During her current pregnancy, she was back at it again, shooting action-packed scenes for the series ‘Fauji 2’ in Pune.
“I was blasting bombs in the finale while pregnant,” she said, half-laughing at the surreal nature of it all. “If I’m in the middle of a shoot, I can’t be unprofessional. The action directors are very understanding, and they plan the scenes carefully around me.”
For Gauahar, the journey of motherhood has come with both physical and emotional challenges.
