Bollywood actress Divya Dutta recently shared a special piece of her past with childhood photograph that instantly tugged heartstrings. In the faded image, a young Divya is all smiles dressed in a cozy knitted sweater and a beaded necklace and gently holding a doll gifted by her father.
On Instagram, she wrote, “Meeting my childhood felt good. Found this picture… It felt like yesterday when I held this doll my dad got for me. A little bit of that girl still lives inside me.”
From childhood memories to historical epics
Divya, 48, continues to stay busy in films and web series. She last appeared in ‘Chhaava’, a historical drama based on the life of Sambhaji, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire. The film, an adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel ‘Chhava’, is directed by Laxman Utekar and features Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, alongside Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna.
Divya has also made her mark in digital storytelling. She starred in ‘Mayasabha: Rise of the Titans’, a web series by Deva Katta. The series explores the volatile political landscape of Andhra Pradesh from 1970s to the 1990s. It chronicles rivalry between two prominent political figures: Kakarla Krishnama Naidu and MS Rami Reddy.
Alongside leads Aadhi Pinisetty and Chaitanya Rao, Divya shares screen space with Sai Kumar and Nassar.
A career full of memorable roles
Divya made her Bollywood debut in 1994 with ‘Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna’, followed by a lead role in the 1995 drama ‘Veergati’. She gained recognition for her performance in the Punjabi film ‘Shaheed-e-Mohabbat Boota Singh’ (1999) where she portrayed Zainab, a Muslim wife separated from her Sikh husband during the 1947 Partition.
Over the years, Divya has delivered memorable performances in films like ‘Veer-Zaara’, ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’, ‘Delhi-6’, ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’, ‘Heroine’, ‘Badlapur’.
In 2013, she won praise for her role as Milkha Singh’s sister in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. Her performance in the social drama ‘Irada’ earned her the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
