For Dia Mirza, nostalgia came wrapped in music, poetry, and a little magic this week. As ‘Parineeta’ completed 20 years, the actress took fans down memory lane by sharing heartfelt glimpses from a grand reunion that celebrated the milestone of the much-loved film.
Dia Mirza, who has often spoken about how ‘Parineeta’ holds a special corner in her heart, marked the occasion on Instagram with pictures and videos from the evening.
“It was a night to remember,” she wrote.
The event brought together the film’s family once again. Vidya Balan, who made her powerful debut as Lalita, stood glowing beside Dia in the photos. Shreya Ghoshal, whose voice gave soul to the soundtrack, was there too, along with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and other members of the creative team.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the producer and writer of the film, was fondly remembered, as was Pradeep Sarkar, who directed the classic.
Released in 2005, ‘Parineeta’ was an adaptation from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s 1914 novella. The movie transported audiences into a lyrical world. Childhood friends Lalita and Shekhar slowly discovered love. Later they torn apart due to misunderstandings and family greed.
Sanjay Dutt’s presence as Girish added depth. Saif Ali Khan brought charm and intensity to Shekhar.
The movie made history. ‘Parineeta’ won the National Award for Best Debut Film of a Director. It also introduced audiences to Vidya Balan, who went on to become one of Bollywood’s most acclaimed performers.
