The trailer for ‘Dhadak 2’ dropped on Friday morning, instantly igniting a storm of conversations online. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film promises to dive deep into themes of caste, class, identity, and rebellion.

Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in the lead, ‘Dhadak 2’ tells the story of two young lovers fighting for their place in a world determined to keep them apart.

Their relationship defies societal norms, particularly the harsh realities of caste discrimination.

From the first few seconds, Siddhant’s performance commands attention. His character exudes vulnerability and quiet rage as he tries to hold on to love while battling systemic oppression.

Triptii Dimri, known for her layered performances, plays a woman caught between family expectations and her desire to follow her heart.

“They look ‘so’ good together,” one social media user wrote shortly after the trailer dropped. Another echoed the sentiment: “Wow… this already feels unforgettable. Can’t wait to see it in theatres.”

Triptii herself shared a heartfelt note about her experience working on the film. “When I started my acting career, I had wished to be part of certain kinds of films, ‘Dhadak 2’ is one of them. It’s not just another love story; it’s special beyond measure. Playing this role challenged me in ways I’d hoped acting always would. We’re truly proud of what we’ve made, and I believe audiences will feel that when they watch it.”

This new chapter comes six years after the release of ‘Dhadak’ (2018), which starred Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and was a remake of the Marathi film ‘Sairat’. While that film tackled caste-based prejudice in a more mainstream tone, ‘Dhadak 2’ appears to aim for a grittier, more grounded portrayal of the same issue.

It is also reportedly a remake of Mari Selvaraj’s critically acclaimed Tamil film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, which was lauded for its unflinching take on caste discrimination in India.
