The romantic film ‘Dhadak 2’, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, finally released in cinemas this Friday. Many fans were excited to see the new lead pair on screen. However, the film’s first-day performance at the box office did not match the buzz around it.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh shared that ‘Dhadak 2’ made only ₹3.65 crore on its opening day in India. This is much lower than expected, especially since the film is a sequel to the 2018 hit ‘Dhadak’, which had earned ₹8.71 crore on its first day. That earlier film had starred Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and opened to strong numbers.
One reason for the slower start could be the tough competition. ‘Dhadak 2’ released on the same day as ‘Son of Sardaar 2’, which stars Ajay Devgn. Both films attracted viewers.
Another factor putting pressure on ‘Dhadak 2’ is the ongoing success of ‘Saiyaara’, a romantic drama starring Ahaan Panday. That film, which came out on July 18, is still doing well at the box office.

Directed by Shazia Iqbal, ‘Dhadak 2’ touches on serious social themes. The story follows Siddhant’s character as he falls in love across class and caste boundaries, facing challenges from a society that doesn’t accept their relationship easily.
Triptii Dimri plays his love interest, and the film focuses on how they try to overcome these obstacles together.
Interestingly, ‘Dhadak 2’ is also a Hindi remake of the Tamil film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ by Mari Selvaraj. While the original was praised for its powerful message, it remains to be seen whether the Hindi version will connect the same way with its audience.
Now, the film’s team is hoping for a better response over the weekend. The next two days will be crucial to see whether the movie can gain momentum and improve its numbers.
