‘Border 2’ release date: Independence Day brought an extra dose of patriotism for movie lovers this year. On Friday, the makers of ‘Border 2’ revealed the first poster of the highly awaited film, starring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. They also confirmed that the film will release in cinemas on January 22, 2026, just ahead of Republic Day weekend.
The poster instantly caught attention. Sunny Deol is in full military gear, holding a bazooka, with determination blazing in his eyes.
Sharing the poster on Instagram, the makers wrote: “Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar! #Border2 hits theatres on Jan 22, 2026 #HappyIndependenceDay!”
‘Border 2’ release date announced:
Director Anurag Singh said the decision to unveil the release date on Independence Day was no coincidence.
“This day reminds us of the sacrifices made by our soldiers for India’s freedom. Our film celebrates that same courage and devotion. It’s an honour to tell this story and pay tribute to the spirit of our armed forces,” Singh said.
The film also stars Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa, alongside its lead cast.
Producer Bhushan Kumar called the ‘Border’ franchise “more than just a film” for Indians.
“With ‘Border 2’, we want to take that emotion forward and introduce it to a new generation. Releasing it during the extended Republic Day weekend will give people more time to come together and experience the film in theatres,” Kumar explained.
Nidhi Dutta, daughter of filmmaker J.P. Dutta who directed the original ‘Border’, said this new chapter comes from the same place of respect and admiration for India’s soldiers.
“The first ‘Border’ was a heartfelt salute to our armed forces. This time, we bring a fresh story but with the same passion, a promise to evoke pride and perhaps a few tears in every theatre,” she said.
‘Border 2’ is backed by a strong production team of Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. It is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films.
