Mumbai’s Nehru Centre Auditorium turned into an unexpected hotspot for Bollywood glamour this week for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) 100-year celebration.
Filmmaker Karan Johar surprised everyone by attending the event and telling reporters he found RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s lecture “inspiring.” Johar didn’t stop there. He also mentioned being struck by Bhagwat’s sense of humour.
“I came here on the occasion of 100 years of the RSS and heard Mohan Bhagwat’s lecture. His words were not only inspiring but also reflected his great sense of humour,” Johar told the media.
Actor Vicky Kaushal, meanwhile, admitted this was his first time hearing Bhagwat speak in person and said it left a “strong impression.” The star called it special to be part of a programme marking such a long journey for the RSS.

“It’s wonderful that the RSS journey has completed 100 years. For the first time, I got to hear Mohan Bhagwat speak in person, and I was deeply impressed,” Kaushal said.
In addition to these two, actress Shilpa Shetty attended the program, “I am a big fan of Mohan Bhagwat. I admire his resolve and commitment to working for the nation. I learned a lot today. He strengthened my resolve further,” she said.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said, “Listening to Mohan Bhagwat was enlightening. He explained what the RSS stands for. There are different perspectives about the RSS in the country. And Mohan ji addressed them clearly. There was a discussion about patriotism, culture and our heritage. It was very informative.”
Actor Ravi Dubey praised the organisation for contributing to nation-building and establishing India as a global leader. Music composer Pritam Chakraborty also highlighted similar sentiments.
The two-day centenary event, titled “100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons”, ran from February 7 to 8, 2026, and drew an unusual mix of attendees. Day one saw Bollywood superstar Salman Khan show up.
Day two got even busier with actors and filmmakers like Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Ravi Dubey, Madhur Bhandarkar, Jackie Shroff, and music composer Pritam attending.
Besides the celebrity sightings, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed social and political issues during the programme. He urged attendees to “detect and report” what he described as “illegal infiltrators” and advised against giving them employment, calling for vigilance.
The two-day event also reflected on the organisation’s century-long journey, its work, and its future plans.
