It all began in 1995 when Bobby Deol made his debut with the ‘Barsaat’. Now after three decades, he is celebrating a journey full of highs, lows, and unforgettable roles.
Bobby quickly became a familiar face in Hindi cinema. He gave films like ‘Gupt: The Hidden Truth’, ‘Kareeb’, ‘Soldier’, ‘Badal’, ‘Hum To Mohabbat Karega’, ‘Bichhoo’, ‘Ajnabee’, ‘Humraaz’, and ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’.
Some of these projects brought him success. But his career later hit a rough patch.
And still, Bobby did not stay down for long. He found renewed popularity with more films like ‘Apne’, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’, and ‘Housefull 4’. But it was his recent work that truly marked a turning point. With critically acclaimed projects like ‘Class of ’83’, the hit web series ‘Aashram’, and films including misogynistic ‘Animal’, ‘Love Hostel’, and ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’, Bobby reestablished himself. The actor, son of veteran star Dharmendra and brother of Sunny Deol, shared his excitement on Instagram. Posting a video montage of his film posters along with an interview snippet, Bobby reflected on his journey and singled out misogynistic ‘Animal’ as a life-changing project. “30 years of many emotions on and off screen … all made worthwhile by your love. That fire still burns and I’m just getting started!” he wrote.
The momentum doesn’t stop there. His latest stint, ‘Bandar (Monkey In A Cage)’, recently premiered at the Special Presentations section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Looking ahead, Bobby has a busy slate of film projects. He will feature in ‘Alpha’, a big-budget spy thriller starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film is the seventh installment in Yash Raj Films’ spy universe that began with the ‘Tiger’ series featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. ‘Alpha’ is slated to release during the Christmas holiday weekend in 2025.
Bobby is also gearing up for the political action thriller ‘Jana Nayagan’, starring alongside Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani.
