On Thursday, producer Bhushan Kumar and filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri revealed their latest cinematic venture: ‘Operation Sindoor’. The film promises to draw inspiration from a pivotal moment in India’s military history, following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack.

The makers revealed that ‘Operation Sindoor’ takes its name from India’s targeted strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 innocent lives, mostly tourists.

The book behind the movie

The film is adapted from the book ‘Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan’ by Lt Gen KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd). Agnihotri, who will direct the movie, explained that the story demanded to be told with honesty and responsibility.

“Some stories are not chosen, they choose you,” Bhushan Kumar said. “Operation Sindoor is one such story, a story that has to be documented truthfully.”

For those familiar with Agnihotri’s work, ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘The Tashkent Files’, ‘The Bengal Files’, this is no surprise.

“We looked at not just what happened, but how and why,” Agnihotri said. “The reality is far more complex, far more precise, and far more unsettling than what the public sees.” He described the film as “a revelation,” one that captures strategic clarity.

The project is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Agnihotri’s I Am Budha Productions.
