Arjun Kapoor meme becomes everyone’s mood, but actor disables Instagram comments

One man’s blank stare has become the internet’s loudest laugh. A five-second clip of Arjun Kapoor, lost in thought during a 2017 press event, has returned from the archives to crown him as the latest meme king, although the actor himself seems far from amused.

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has once again found himself in the middle of online chatter, but this time not for a film release or a public statement. A short video clip from 2017 suddenly resurfaced, and within days it turned into one of the internet’s most shared memes.

The constant trolling got so overwhelming that the actor decided to switch off the comments section on his Instagram posts.

The video in question comes from the promotions of ‘Half Girlfriend’, a romantic drama directed by Mohit Suri and based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel. The movie, starring Arjun alongside Shraddha Kapoor, may not be fresh in people’s minds anymore, but one moment from its press event surely is.

In the clip, Arjun can be seen sitting with Shraddha while staring into the distance with a blank expression. What was once an unnoticeable few seconds has now become the internet’s favourite template for jokes.

Meme creators quickly jumped on the clip, looping Arjun’s expression into countless funny situations. Reels, GIFs, parodies, and edited mashups spread like wildfire across social media platforms.

The speed at which the Arjun Kapoor meme grew was staggering. Within hours, it was everywhere: X (Twitter) timelines, Instagram reels, even WhatsApp forwards.

Not everyone found the joke funny. Some of Arjun’s supporters felt that the constant mockery was unnecessary and disrespectful. But the momentum was hard to control.

Arjun Kapoor has had a roller-coaster career in Bollywood. After hits like ‘Gunday’ (2014), ‘2 States’ (2014), and ‘Ki & Ka’ (2016), his later films struggled to find success at the box office. While ‘Singham Again’ (2024) gave him a brief comeback moment, the last few years have not been easy.
