Bollywood director AR Murugadoss has spoken candidly about his experience working with superstar Salman Khan on the 2025 action drama ‘Sikandar’.
The film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, stars Salman. It also has Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Sathyaraj, Jatin Sarna, Sanjay Kapoor, Prateik Babbar, and Kishore.
Despite high expectations, ‘Sikandar’ failed to make a mark at the box office.
In a recent interview with Valaipechu Voice, Murugadoss revealed that working with Salman was a unique challenge.
“It’s not easy to shoot with a star,” he said. “Even scenes meant for the day had to be shot at night because Salman only arrives on set by 8 PM. Usually, we start early in the morning, but with him, the routine was completely different.”

The director also shared how this unusual schedule affected other actors, especially child artists. “If there were four kids in a scene, we had to film with them at 2 AM, even if the shot was supposed to show them returning from school. By that time, they were exhausted and often dozed off on camera,” he added.
Murugadoss returned to Bollywood after a nine-year break with ‘Sikandar’. His last Hindi film, ‘Akira’ (2016), a remake of his own Tamil thriller ‘Mouna Guru’, starred Sonakshi Sinha, Anurag Kashyap, and Konkona Sen Sharma.
Despite its intriguing storyline, ‘Akira’ failed commercially, earning just ₹43.90 crore against a ₹30 crore budget.
In ‘Sikandar’, Salman plays Sanjay “Sikandar” Rajkot. He is a man haunted by a tragic accident who sets out to change the lives of three people. His actions soon attract the attention of a vengeful politician, driving the film’s intense action sequences.
