Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has finally revealed the story behind the unusual title of his upcoming film ‘Nishaanchi’.
Interestingly, the movie didn’t always carry this name. Initially, it went by a much longer title: ‘Babloo Nishaanchi, Rangilee Rinku, and Dabloo’.
Kashyap explained that the original title was playful but a bit too much. “Everyone said it was too long,” he said, sharing how the final name came to be. The simplified ‘Nishaanchi’ stuck, reflecting the core of the story without overcomplicating things.
The film follows Babloo, played by Aaishvary Thackeray, whose passionate love for Rinku, portrayed by Vedika Pinto, faces unexpected turmoil with the arrival of Dabloo, Babloo’s twin brother.
The entry of Dabloo sets off a series of conflicts, tension, and emotional twists, making the love story more complex and intense.
Anurag Kashyap has said that working on ‘Nishaanchi’ allowed him to return to his roots as a filmmaker, embracing the raw and edgy storytelling style that his fans have long admired. This film also marks a fresh on-screen pairing for Aaishvary Thackeray and Vedika Pinto.

Alongside them, the movie features actors Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in significant roles.
Produced under the banner of Jar Pictures by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh, in association with Flip Films, ‘Nishaanchi’ is co-written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel, and Kashyap himself.
The film is going to hit theatres on September 19.
Meanwhile, Kashyap is also gearing up for another big project. He, along with Guneet Monga Kapoor, is on board as executive producer and presenter for ‘The Fable’, which has been titled ‘Jugnuma’ in Hindi. This film, directed by Raam Reddy, is going to release across India on September 12.
