Amitabh Bachchan recently surprised fans by sharing something special and nostalgic: a preserved movie ticket for his iconic 1975 film ‘Sholay’. The most astonishing part? The ticket cost only Rs. 20.

Big B posted this treasure on his personal blog, alongside photos from his weekly Sunday meet-and-greet with fans outside his Juhu home in Mumbai. While sharing the old cinema ticket, he expressed his amazement at how times have changed.

“The ‘Sholay’ ticket… kept and preserved… Rs. 20!! The price!!” he wrote, clearly surprised. He then made a witty observation, wondering if this amount is now equal to the cost of a cold drink at movie theatres. “I am told that is the price of an aerated drink in Theatre Halls nowadays… is that a fact?” he asked, leaving readers amused.

‘Sholay’, one of the most iconic Hindi films of all time, was directed by Ramesh Sippy and featured Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra as two small-time crooks, Jai and Veeru, who are hired by a former police officer to capture the terrifying bandit Gabbar Singh.

The film went on to become a cultural phenomenon and remains a classic decades later.

Apart from the throwback, Bachchan also shared some deep thoughts about how his mind becomes most active late at night. He reflected on how, in the silence of the night, or even in the middle of noise, his creativity flows best.

“It’s during the quiet late hours that thoughts wake up. It’s strange but true. There are many theories behind this. Some say it’s because you can hear what you write. Others believe it’s the loneliness in noise that sparks ideas. Somehow, when the world is resting, the mind works at its sharpest,” he wrote.

In his own poetic and philosophical way, the superstar also talked about the clutter in life; how we collect things we don’t always need, and how sometimes, not doing what we should have done leads to regret.

“Too much of anything can take over your mind and body. Some people like to throw away unused things, others like to store them. Choosing between these two habits can overwhelm the mind,” he explained.

Bachchan, now 82, remains active in films, television, and social media.
