India celebrated a thrilling five-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan to lift the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday night, and megastar Amitabh Bachchan had a few things to say.
The Bollywood legend couldn’t resist teasing former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who had hilariously confused cricketer Abhishek Sharma with actor Abhishek Bachchan during his analysis on the show ‘Game On Hai’.
Amitabh took to X (formerly Twitter) with a witty post: “Jeet gaye!! .. well played ‘Abhishek Bachchan’ .. udhar zubaan ladkhadai, aur idhar, bina batting bowling fielding kiye, ladkhada diya dushman ko!! Bolti band.” It translates to, “We won!! Well played, Abhishek Bachchan… On one side, the tongue stumbled, and on the other, without batting, bowling, or fielding, we made the opponent falter!! Silence reigns.”

The funny mix-up that sparked Amitabh Bachchan’s tweet happened when Shoaib Akhtar, analyzing the final, said: “If Pakistan gets Abhishek Bachchan out early… what will happen to the middle-order? Their middle-order hasn’t performed well.” The confusion between Abhishek Sharma, the cricketer, and Abhishek Bachchan, the actor, immediately caught attention.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan himself joined the fun, replying politely, “Sir, with all due respect… don’t think they’ll even manage that! And I’m not even good at playing cricket.” The exchange quickly went viral.
The final at Dubai International Stadium was a rollercoaster of emotions. Pakistan got off to a strong start, reaching 113/1 in just 12.4 overs. Half-centuries from Sahibzada Farhan (57) and Fakhar Zaman (46) kept the Pakistani innings alive and looked threatening.
But India’s bowlers, spearheaded by Kuldeep Yadav’s brilliant four-wicket haul, triggered an extraordinary collapse. Nine Pakistani wickets fell for only 33 runs. The team was all out for 146 in 19.1 overs.
India then chased the target confidently. They eventually sealing the victory by five wickets.
