Amitabh Bachchan’s weekly Sunday darshan outside his Mumbai residence, Jalsa, turned briefly chaotic after a fan appeared to collapse amid large crowd.
Videos circulating on social media showed people attempting to assist that individual by offering water and clearing space around them. The fan fell on the road and bystanders quickly moved in to help.
The crowd and the heat
This weekend’s crowd became hard to control due to the large number of people and the intense heat. The combination of summer temperatures in Mumbai and the size of the gathering might be the reason behind the fan’s collapse.
As of now, there is no official statement from Amitabh’s team.

Bachchan stepped out as usual
Bachchan stepped outside Jalsa as part of his long-running Sunday tradition of greeting admirers gathered outside his home. Reports indicated he dressed up in white when he came out to wave at the gathered crowd. At that point, the situation in the crowd began to spiral.
The weekly appearance continues to draw large crowds, with many fans travelling from different parts of the country for a glimpse of the veteran actor.
This tradition has been running for many years and is widely known among his fanbase as “Sunday darshan.”
A long-running tradition
Bachchan’s Sunday appearances outside his house are a special tradition for his fans. People from across the country come to see the superstar wave at them.
The tradition has previously seen similar crowd management issues.
In earlier years, Bachchan himself noted on his blog that police presence at the gate had been increased due to the size of gatherings. He had written that women and children in the crowd were sometimes brought inside his premises for their own safety, and pointed out how those at the front of the crowd were often crushed by pressure from people at the back.
