Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was a helping hand to Mumbai’s Juhu beach on Sunday, taking part in a post-Ganpati Visarjan clean-up drive.
A video shared widely on social media shows the actor actively collecting litter left behind after the festival, placing it carefully into garbage bags alongside other volunteers.
Joining him were Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani.
The initiative comes at a time when public awareness around cleanliness is being emphasised, especially following large-scale celebrations like Ganpati Visarjan, which often leave beaches littered with waste.
Speaking at the event, Akshay highlighted the role of every individual in keeping public spaces clean. “Maintaining cleanliness is common sense,” he said. “It is not just the government or BMC’s responsibility; it is each of our responsibility. Prime Minister Modi often reminds us that cleanliness starts with us.”

Meanwhile, Akshay is also back on the film front, reuniting with Saif Ali Khan for their upcoming project, ‘Haiwaan’. The film has officially gone on floors, and Akshay shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram. In the clip, he chats casually with Saif and director Priyadarshan.
The upcoming film marks a long-awaited reunion for Akshay and Saif, who last worked together in ‘Tashan’ nearly 18 years ago. Akshay expressed his excitement in the post caption, writing, “Hum sab hi hain thode se shaitaan… Koi upar se Saint, koi andar se Haiwaan :)) Starting the shoot for #Haiwaan today with my absolute favourite captain of the ship, @priyadarshan.official Sir. Great to be working with Saif after nearly 17 years. Let’s get the haiwaniyat rolling!!”
For Saif, this marks a strong return to work after a frightening incident earlier this year. In January, he sustained multiple stab injuries during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence. Two of the six stab wounds were serious, located near his spine.
