After nearly two decades, Bollywood’s beloved duo Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are finally coming back together on the big screen. The two actors, known for their on-screen chemistry and camaraderie in films like ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ and ‘Tashan’, are teaming up once again, and this time for a thriller titled ‘Haiwaan’, directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan.
The news was confirmed in an unexpected way. Priyadarshan took to Instagram to share a candid moment of the two actors enjoying a day out at Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London, where they were watching the India vs. England Test match.
In the photo, Saif Ali Khan fully engrosses in the game, dressed casually in a blue shirt, while Akshay Kumar, standing next to him in a crisp beige blazer layered over a white shirt, appears to be mid-conversation.

Alongside the image, Priyadarshan simply wrote, “Haiwaan my next film with @akshaykumar and Saif Ali Khan at Lord’s.”
This marks the first time Akshay and Saif will share screen space since ‘Tashan’ in 2008.
The film is likely to be a thriller and will be a Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam film ‘Oppam’, which starred Mohanlal in the lead. But there’s a twist. Akshay Kumar will reportedly play the antagonist in the film, a departure from his usual hero roles.
Saif is likely to play the lead protagonist, though further details about the characters remain under wraps.
Filming will begin this August, with production taking place in India and abroad. As for the release, fans will have to wait a bit. The film is going to hit theatres sometime in 2026.
