‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ on YouTube: Bollywood star Aamir Khan has taken a bold step with his latest film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’. After its run in cinemas, the movie will now be released directly on YouTube Movies from August 1.

What makes this move special is that the film will ‘not’ be available on any other OTT platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime.

The decision is part of Aamir Khan’s effort to make the film easily available to a larger audience, especially those who don’t have access to theatres or paid streaming services.

The movie will come at a price of just Rs 100 in India. It will also release in 38 other countries, including the US, UK, and Australia, with prices adjusted based on each region.

In an official statement, Aamir explained his thought process. He said that for the past 15 years, he had been searching for a way to reach people who either live too far from cinemas or can’t afford to go to them.

Now, with the rise of UPI payments, better internet access, and YouTube’s widespread reach, he believes the time is right to try something new.

“Today, YouTube is available on almost every device. And with India leading the way in digital payments, we can finally connect with millions of people, not just in cities, but in towns and villages too,” Aamir said.

To make the experience even more inclusive, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ will release with subtitles and dubbed versions in multiple languages.

The film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir’s much-loved 2007 hit ‘Taare Zameen Par’. But while the earlier movie focused on a child with dyslexia, this time, Aamir plays a basketball coach who trains a group of neurodivergent children.

The film explores how sports can be a powerful tool for self-expression, growth, and inclusion. Actress Genelia Deshmukh also plays a key role in the film.

Directed by Prasanna, the movie released in theatres on June 20 and received a warm response from viewers for its emotional depth and social message.
