It’s been three years since Vijay Varma left a strong impression on audiences with his complex and controversial role in ‘Darlings’. He played Hamza, an abusive and alcoholic husband whose disturbing behavior left many viewers shocked. Some hated his character, while others admired his powerful performance.
To celebrate the film’s third anniversary, Vijay took to Instagram and shared a bunch of never-seen-before photos from behind the scenes.
Along with the pictures, he added a short caption: “3 years of and Big love to the team and to the fans of the movie. Darlings, I loves you all.”

‘Darlings’ was the directorial debut of Jasmeet K. Reen, with a screenplay by Parveez Sheikh. The film was backed by big names; Alia Bhatt (who also starred in the movie), Gauri Khan, and Gaurav Verma, under their banners Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions.
It was also Alia’s first project as a producer.

The film starred Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew in key roles. Other cast members included Vijay Maurya, Rajesh Sharma, Vikram Pratap, Santosh Juvekar, and Kiran Karmarkar.
Looking ahead, Vijay has some exciting projects lined up. One of them is ‘Matka King’, directed by Nagraj Manjule, the filmmaker behind ‘Sairat’ and ‘Fandry’. The movie revolves in 1960s Mumbai and tells the story of a smart cotton trader who introduces a new form of gambling called “Matka”. His move shakes up the gambling world, making it accessible to the common man instead of just the wealthy.
‘Matka King’ is a production of Siddharth Roy Kapur and Nagraj Manjule, along with Gargi Kulkarni, Ashish Aryan, and Ashwini Sidwani. The cast includes Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, Siddharth Jadhav, and more.
That’s not all for Vijay. He will also be seen in ‘Gustaakh Ishq’, directed by Vibhu Puri. This romantic drama brings together an ensemble featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Sharib Hashmi, and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
