Like Rekha said in her letter, Aishawarya Rai Bachchan has indeed come a long way and her journey in the industry would have begun much earlier had she agreed to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan.
Aishwarya, who featured in hit movies like Taal, Devdas, Guru, Dhoom 2, Jodha Akbar and Guzaarish, was reportedly approached by veteran filmmakers way before her actual debut in films.
In an interview to Femina, Aishwarya says she would have debuted with Aamir in Raja Hindustani or opposite Shah Rukh in Dil Toh Pagal Hai.

“Even before winning the titles, I was being pursued. Dharmesh Darshan had offered me ‘Raja Hindustani’; Yashji (Yash Chopra) wanted to launch me in ‘Maine Toh Mohabbat Kar Li’, which became ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’,”
“During the title year, both Mani Ratnam and Rajiv Menon got in touch. I was an admirer of Mani Ratnam’s cinema, so Iruvar (debut) happened. Again, my story was an unconventional one. Unlike other newcomers who waited to see the fate of their first film, I’d already signed two to three films. Long story short, when I started shooting ‘Iruvar’ with Mani, my inner voice told me this was home,” Aishwarya added.
It’s an interesting fact how Aishwarya and Aamir worked together in Mela and was suppose to star opposite Aamir in Mangal Pandey, but never actually shared screen space in their career.
However, Aishwarya and Shah Rukh did work in numerous films like Devdas, Josh and Mohabattein.
