In the wake of the Supreme Court order on Tuesday dismissing the review petition of 21 Opposition parties seeking an increase in the physical counting of VVPAT slips to five random EVMs, the BJP said the opposition was finding fault with EVMs because they were staring at an inevitable defeat in the Lok Sabha polls.

BJP spokesperson and party candidate from Puri, Sambit Patra, claimed that after the fifth round of polling the BJP-led NDA was all set to form the government.

Patra said the Opposition was raising the issue of VVPATs fearing an imminent defeat in the polls. He said leaders who were on anticipatory bail and contesting know that their deposits would be confiscated.

Patra said the vibrations on the grounds were an indication of the fact that the BJP on its own would win 300 Lok Sabha seats. He said the BJP, along with the NDA allies, would win the polls by a two-third majority.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP and spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu, who led the plea to the Supreme Court on EVMs, was going to suffer defeat in both Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.
