Massive crowds turned up for the roadshows of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi in Bijnor and Saharanpur on Tuesday. The proposed roadshow in Kairana, however, could not be organised as the Congress failed to get permission from the administration.

The rallies featuring Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka and Jyotiraditya Scindia, which were scheduled for Monday in Kairana, Bijnor and Saharanpur were cancelled due to bad weather. Hence, a roadshow was organised on Tuesday but the party failed to get permission to hold it in Kairana.

Priyanka arrived in Bijnor first where she was greeted by a massive crowd. The road show started from the Congress office on Bijnor-Najibabad road. Priyanka was here to campaign in favour of party candidate Naseemuddin Siddiqui where she was joined by Nageena candidate Omvati.

Perched on the rooftop of an SUV, Priyanka greeted the people. She especially interacted with women and children who flung garlands and flowers on the Congress general secretary.

Tension, however, gripped the roadshow when at Rammu Ka Chauraha, a group of BJP supporters, including a few youths and women waved BJP flags and raised slogans in favour of Modi and Chowkidar. The situation was controlled by the police while Priyanka threw flowers on the BJP supporters and smiled at them.

The roadshow ended at Meerut chungi from where Priyanka moved to Saharanpur for another roadshow.

In Saharanpur too, a massive crowd turned up for Priyanka’s roadshow which started from Jain Bagh. Accompanied by Congress candidate Imran Masood, Priyanka actively interacted with the people.

Encouraged by the sight of a sea of supporters waving Congress flags, Priyanka got down from her vehicle and started walking along with the crowd.
