Former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President, Omar Abdullah, on Saturday blamed Mehbooba Mufti, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Anantnag, for NIA’s “trap” against Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. He also reiterated the demand for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) the way it has been scrapped in Arunachal Pradesh.

Talking to media persons after addressing an election rally at Kupwara, Omar said that the NIA filed an FIR against Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in 2017 when Mehbooba was Chief Minister and so she alone is responsible for the notices NIA is sending to the Mirwaiz.

Reiterating the demand for revocation of AFSPA, Omar said it should be revoked in Jammu and Kashmir the way it was scrapped in Arunachal Pradesh. He said Article 370 has been worst hit by the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST). Omar dared Mehbooba Mufti to prove that National Conference has even once extended such a law to the state which has damaged the state’s special status.
